What is the best place to find a girlfriend?

My mom desperately wants me to find a girlfriend. She tells me the best place to find a girlfriend is at church. I am a shy personality when it comes to going up to a girl and trying to get to know her to build a relationship out of the process. I am especially shy when it comes to talking to pretty girls who are vastly independent and have a somewhat successful life or close to it. I am referring to one of those B.S, PHD, Master point, great paying career having type of women who usually look down at guys with an average everday lifestyle. I don't have a successful lifestyle because I am struggling beside my low paying job that I have immediately, and I don't even have my own home or any nice material things that women prefer so much from a guy. I can't afford adjectives those good things now, but I am trying my best to hold all that. I am also hardworking, honest, trustworthy, and I have a sense of humor at times. I really stipulation help on finding a girlfriend somewhere where ever that place may be.
