Depends where the flights are flying into! I don't resembling Torremolinos (14Kms from where I live) but there's a lot of hours of darkness life, it's cheap, the weather is great at the moment, it's 23.25 and 21 degrees, you can walk to the beach through the day and para journey, go on a dolphin spotting trip or just sunbathe and within the evening you can go to just roughly any kind of restaurant you can imagine from McDonalds to Japanese afterwards go onto a disco or club. It won't cost you a lot of money and will be better than the Lake District.

Depends what time of the year - May-Sep everywhere is warm, after Sept and before may you want Costa Del sol or tenerif, I love Majorca in July, Benidorm is very dirty and strident - like a dirty Blackpool, my cousin lives there and he have moved away from the town because of the dirt and noise, and robberies.

Its a gorgeous city and there are also beach near by! There are street entertainers adjectives down La Ramba (a pedestrianised street in Barca). Theres lots of lovely restaurants and shops. Its very graceful to get around. Its sunny and warm but not over stance. There are loads of lovely buildings to see and nice romantic walks to go on. And you can do a tour of the footie stadium if your wife would be up for that! Its amazing to see coz its so big even if you not a footie fan1 Theres also a lovely dock and you can walk on a boat and stuff. Loads to do!
