In UK I got honest brass stuff from Wilkinsons hardwarestores and skirting from a local wood yard . Don't buy timber or wood from the big DIY chains,Don't know if Wilkinsons do chrome though .
B&Q, argos and ebay do chrome plug points and light switches. B&Q will also do the skirting boards.

I win my skirting boards from a local timber yard if softwood or Howdens Joinery if MDF, specialist mouldings & hardwood from henry venables or brooks Bros
