Where are the best places to live on the eastcoast?
My boyfriend and myself are starting to explore where we want to settle. We really want to raise a own flesh and blood in a safe enviroment but know how to work in a urban area. We are from NY and dont want to be too far from our family connections so we have been thinking nearly PA. I am a nurse and he will be working in the school systems. Does anyone hold a suggestion of where is a good place to settle? I dont close to the city chaos, but I would like to be close (30 min) to a city. Thank you!

The perfect city for you: Rochester, New York.
The city basically fits adjectives of your wants. We have 3 or 4 hospitals available and copious medical parks and good school systems. The city is almost 5 or 6 hours away from New York City (assuming that is where your from/family is from).
Parts of the city may not be risk-free, but the suburbs are very safe. Rochester nouns has one of the inexpensive housing markets which is a devout thing. There are many suburbs to choose from, which are adjectives less than 20 minutes away from the city center.
You might want to look at a map of the area to follow the things below.
Here are a few to look for:
1. Henrietta. Henrietta is terribly developed and is one of the more inexpensive suburbs. It has many shopping malls and stores and is also 5-10 minutes away from rurual areas. It have a fairly good institution district which my Son goes to. This is the farthest south contained by Monroe County that is south of Rochester and Lake Ontario
2. Pittsford. This is probably one of the most expensive. The schools are fitting here as well.
3. Irondiqouit. This is a great place because it is near tarn ontario and some parts are on the lake and it is a nice suburb. Just make sure to research some parts as some aren't as sheltered as others.
4. Greece. Greece is a very large suburb. It ranges from commercial adjectives the way to rural country like. It is not dangerous, and is middle priced. The school district isn't the greatest due to some recent courrptiong with superintendants.
5. Webster. This suburb is also by the lagoon. Keep in mind, the closer to the lake, the more sea effect snow you get in the winter.
Traffic is not that fruitless and not compareable to New York City.

I used to live contained by Northern Virginia, about 10 miles south of D.C., and found it quiet. It be close enough to D.C. that i could use public transit between home, D.C., and Southern Maryland. That gave me access to the hours of darkness life in Old Town Alexandria (partway between home and D.C.), and D.C. itself. There be plenty of shopping, and culture in the area, along next to recreation and history. Southern Maryland would have one and the same benefits.
i similar to the maryland and virginia areas as well, especially the outskirts of baltimore city where it become more green with pretty houses and old sidewalks. jersey have some nasty stigmas sometimes but there are nice parts of jersey resembling near princeton and trenton.. my grandparents live in jamesburg which is sweet and twee.
i beg you not to do the move to pennsylvania! my parents did it back contained by 1992 and i was raised within pennsylvania while my mother commuted to NYC. now, i guess with any big move, you REALLY have need of to do your research with the town politics and history. my parents thought they checked up enough on everything but near were definitely a few things they forgot to consider and also didn't even dream up to investigate.
the school system in PA is outstandingly corrupt and unfortunately since they are a big power house for small towns,, they have the local report media wrapped around their fingers. thus, any sort of corruption is kept at a hush and no one really know what's going on. lots of shady business. my father has worked in the conservatory system in monroe county, PA for over a decade and he has see this corruption with his own eyes. he was even president of the grouping at one point. teachers getting fired for discriminatory reasons, nation getting fired in general because they gain so much signority that they get paid "too much"... blah blah blah. not to mention these tiny places enjoy little to offer with extracurricular goings-on, so drugs and STD's among students in these areas are actually disturbingly highly developed than those in more urban environments. in reality, in 2000, the high academy started issuing notices to parents of students that were already sophomores or junior or seniors warning them that the incoming freshman had big cases of syphillis and gonorrhea. imagine the cases being so unpromising that ever september, you as a parent receiving a notice maxim that these 13/14 year old kids are already coming in beside multiple STD's!? because of a lot of the dark mountain roads near little serveillance, street racing at night is a amazingly common sport hidden inside the hills of PA. it becomes even more dicey when these kids start mixing it with alcohol and other drugs. too many of my friends and friends of my friends enjoy past away in vehicle wrecks. every year we were putting atleast 3 of our friends in the ground from coupé wrecks alone. AT LEAST THREE. another problem with PA is that a lot of inhabitants had the same model that you and my parents had. getting out of the city. so now, local school are experiencing massive overcrowding in towns that used to have resembling 500 people in it. they can't breed the schools big enough! so presently, when people move in and chew over they are getting a better life from the chaos of the city, they slowly discover that nearby is a whole different sort of chaos contained by these small towns experiencing a massive overload. it's hard to find a doctor taking new patients... teacher feel underpaid for all their increased stress they settlement with per day....
very soon, i know things aren't great everywhere, but there are places greater than others. and having lived contained by NY, i understand too the mayhem and overcrowding and adjectives. my suggestion to you is to find the towns that have yet to be shabby by the surplus of city-escapers.
although it is generally more expensive to live, Rhode Island is a pretty nice little state. it has it's bizarre quirks, but it is an overall beautiful state and isn't horrifically far from NYC. and you would also have access to other cities like boston and providence and the connecticut cities. but do your research no event what. the downside with moving into a place where everything is commonly more expensive especially due to a lot of old blood and relatives establisment is that you will run into a significant amount of people who have a consistant undertone of snobbery and superiority over others... especially when bring to the fore or class in involved. and many of their kids grow up next to this same sense of snobbery and superiority which in turn affects the people they any intentionally or unintentionally degrade.
when i read out: do your research... it's more than just checking population and salary wages, local events, crime stats, local shopping and convenience... it's researching the history to appreciate the present, to understand the people... deduce about what sort of people you want to live around.. i imply, no matter what, people own different demeanors and characters where ever you live; whether it's san francisco vs. boston vs. miami vs. dallas... so try and understand a few of these social dynamics beforehand moving to a new place.
my dad took this huge chance beside little investigation a long time ago when i was little and we moved to a little town surrounded by georgia. now, my dad is a dark puerto rican. my dad be very surprised when he found out KKK members literally lived on the other side of the creek. let's in recent times say we didn't live there terrifically long before we moved back to NY!
